LA Marzulli - Fire Relief Fund
Donation protected
**UPDATE Nov 17th** We lost an estimated $50,000+ in inventory (inventory was not insured). So thank you so much to everyone who has donated or prayed or shared our fundraiser. We're moving forward!
We're bumping up the goal a little bit to help cover the inventory loss.
**UPDATE Nov 16th** We just got back to our property and this (above) is what it looks like now
Hey Folks,
It's me, LA Marzulli, and I'm no longer able to come to you from our undisclosed location, deep in the heart of the Santa Monica Mountains.
Our home, the guest house, the studio, the garden, all our belongings except those things that we put in the fireproof root cellar have been taken by the Woolsey Fire.
Saturday evening, while we were at the Operation Classified Conference in Dallas Texas, Los Angles officials informed us that our home was amongst the many lost in this record breaking fire.
Words can't describe how we feel. We are of course very very thankful as the things we value most in life (the lives of our daughters, pets and our own lives) were not taken by the fire. Never the less we are in shock at the loss of our home of many many years.
We don't take things lying down and we are actively trying to hit the restart button, but this is a huge hill to overcome, but all things are possible in Christ Jesus.
We've started a GoFundMe account and have opened up the gates to donations to help us hit that restart button. It's never been easy to run the ministry, but we've always loved our calling. We are, as always, marching forward.
We also ask you to pray for us and others who have been affected by the fire.
Please also pray for the firefighters, police officers and official who, while we run out of the flames, go running in to the fires in a bid to fight this immense and seemingly unstoppable force.
God has the final word, but we ask that you be moved to grace and pray for people in that area, pray for intervention and if you can, donate.
Thank you for your prayers and support. We will keep you posted when we know more.
A Brief History:
I moved to my undisclosed location in 1978. A few years before that I had built the guest house for the owner of the property. Now, I found myself living in the 1000 sq. ft. guest house I had built with my own hands. I became a Christian in that house. I gave my life to the Lord sitting in a chair in the corner of the bed room. Later, when I fell on hard times I was doing some landscaping for the owner to work off my back rent and the Lord spoke to me: You're doing this for yourself. This is yours.
I was taken back and cried out. How is that possible?
Peggy and I got married in 1984 and she moved into the guest house where we brought our first daughter home from the hospital.
In 1985 a fire swept through our canyon. I was there and helped the firemen put out the flames as both the main house and guest house were on fire.
It was horrific. We wound up buying the property and closed escrow in 1987 which was the fulfillment of the Lord's word years before. I worked for the owner's new house for three years creating custom arched-doors and cabinets. It was sweat equity and created our down payment for the property.
When the property became ours I remodeled the main house, created decks and walkways, a bountiful garden, waterfalls and a pond. Because the main house was only 1700 sq. ft. I built a "tea-house" right outside the kitchen and we shared many wonderful meals there.
My favorite place on the planet was from what we call "top-side." I built a large deck with an outdoor kitchen and a very large red-wood table that could seat 10 people. It has a view down our canyon to the ocean about 2 miles away.
I love working with my hands and will continue to do so as I rebuild the houses and re-do the landscaping.
In the meantime we are homeless but hopefully not for long!
