March for Truth Lansing Rally

Donation protected

Thank you for helping support the Lansing March for Truth on June 3.  The reality of hosting events like these is that there are real costs involved.  We're working to keep expenses down, and have gotten items donated from supporters, but we still have to provide for things like electricity, security, portable bathrooms and other event incidentals.  We appreciate everything you're doing to get involved and help make this event a powerful statement.

With a contribution of $40 or more, you will receive a commemorative tshirt.

All proceeds will go toward the costs of the march (see below for a list of event expenses), with any excess funds donated to Flint, Michigan's ongoing water crisis efforts.

In the interest of transparency, this is a list of our expenses in organizing the #MarchForTruth Lansing:

Venue Costs: $750
- Capitol Staff: $150
- Portable Bathrooms: $300
- Capitol Equipment: $150
- Clean Up: $150

Event Insurance: $350

Water Stations / Printed Materials (optional): $450

As an entirely grassroots effort our only source of funding is the generosity of people like you and we appreciate your support!

Our goals for the rally are simple.

The legitimacy of our democracy is more important than the interests of any party, or any elected official. So, we will rise together to call for a fair and impartial investigation, for the pursuit of truth, and for the restoration of faith in our electoral system and our government.

RESTORING FAITH IN GOVERNMENT:
At the national level:
*Ensure an impartial investigation into foreign interference in the US election and the Trump administration's ties to foreign powers;
*An independent commission must be established and Congressional investigations should be properly resourced and pursued free of partisan interests;
*As much information should be made available to the public as possible, and as soon as possible;
*Congress should require Donald Trump to release his tax returns to clarify his business interests and obligations to any foreign entity;
*If crimes were committed or if collusion is discovered, it must be prosecuted.

At the state level:
*Michigan ranks last in the nation for laws regarding ethics and transparency.
*The Michigan Senate must pass House Bills 4148-4157 - already unanimously approved by the Michigan House - that will make the governor, lieutenant governor and the Legislature accountable under the state's Freedom of Information Act;
*A comprehensive review of Michigan's electoral process should be done, with reforms implemented to ensure integrity, transparency and accessibility in our elections;
*Michigan should adopt common-sense ethics reforms for state lawmakers that include annual disclosure of financial interests, prohibiting state contractors from making donations to state officials and parties, and ensuring that tax payer funded employees are not utilized for political campaign purposes.

Therefore, we call for a #MarchForTruth to raise our voices and let our elected leaders know that citizens want answers and action.
