Laura Jeglum-Woycheshen memorial

Donation protected
Thursday Sept 14th tragedy struck this family when Laura was out with friends for a motorcycle ride and dinner. At 9:45pm on her way home, she was struck by a cowardly hit and run driver. Even with the selfless help of good Samaritans, the emergency response teams and the great medical team at RCH, Laura succumb to her injuries.

Everyone who knew Laura, knew her as a strong, outspoken person who would give you the shirt off of her back. She was the first person to offer you a drink, food and comfort if you ever needed it. She was the glue that would bring a group of friends together or the voice of reason to keep the family united. She never waited for anyone to ask for help... she was there offering it before you knew you even needed it.

Now her boys Jesse, Jevin and Rob need your help.

Rob Jeglum, her oldest son has been tasked with the burden of burying his mother.... his 2 year old sons grandmother... She was so proud of him, like all her boys. She raised him through a lot of tough and lean times but taught him the value of a good work ethic. He used this to create his own landscaping company. This hasn't come easy for Rob. With long hours and a lot of hard work he has made a living to support his son, spouse and her three children. He has had to spend long hours running his own Christmas tree farm, plowing snow at all hours of the night at the mercy of mother nature to provide the conditions to do this... as well as work his regular jobs he retains with his landscaping job through the year.

Even with all of this on his plate, Rob has demonstrated the compassion he has learned from his mother. He has donated his time and energy to other people in need this summer by bringing tons of feed to farm animals stranded by the forest fires this summer as well as being featured on the local news for helping a child with mobility issues, stranded by the large snowfall in the lower mainland this past winter, get out of his home and go to school to be with his peers.

Rob has done a wonderful job supporting his family, but with this unexpected burden, will struggle to give the memorial this woman so deserves.

I want to raise this money for one purpose. To help Rob have a memorial for his mother that will be deserving of the heart and character she had inside of her. We know there will be a large turn out from all the lives she touched and we want to offer closure to so many people that are struggling coming to terms with this senseless loss of life....

Anything people want to contribute will go to this cause and any funds raised beyond the costs of the memorial will be put into a trust for her 2 year old grandson on behalf of Laura.

I appreciate any help you want to give to Laura's memory..

Please see the update for information on Laura's service.

When the funeral service is complete, I will withdraw the money and make the suitable donation to the church, on behalf of the family, for their help with hosting the service and supplying the food as well as refreshments. The remaining I will pay to the funeral home handling everything else, or pay towards the purchase of a headstone, whichever the family decides needs the funds more.
