Legal Costs for Free Speech Case

On 27th June I was found guilty of Section 5 Public Order Act - for using abusive words and disorderly behaviour. What I actually did was say the words 'jerk off' once and moved my hand up and down in a gesticulation that was deemed to be disorderly behaviour and was found 'guilty.' Ironically I was describing the process of milk production and how McDonalds and factory farmers forcefully jerk off the bulls and then inseminate the cows with the semen. I am being punished for telling the truth.
I could have taken a fine of £90 but I chose to go to court and the whole thing was a sham and in my view a disgrace.
My wife begged me to take the fine and in many ways she was right (as wives so often are) and I promised her I would crowd fund the fine if I lost. Although the case was given a conditional discharge for 12 months (which means no fine), I was ordered to pay £800 in court costs and 'victim surcharge.' even though there was no victim.
