LEGAL FEES TO PAY TOWN ATTORNEY
We are a 501c3 nonprofit that rescues equines (horses, ponies, mules, donkeys, mini's, etc) from slaughter and give them a home for life.
Sadly, due to the confusion that the Town's clerk had purposely given us, we did not know we were over by 1.66 ponies and so the town sued us. This is a story that has been in the paper 2 times so far. And we believe they may be working on yet another story about it. You can find the articles in the Janesville Gazette Xtra.
The town wanted over $79,000 but the Judge only awarded them $500 that we have to pay. We were not only lied to by the clerk, Linda Fewell, but she and town board members also gave us the run around for our C.U.P (conditional use permit) which cost us $750 to do both the C.U.P and Variance which we were denied. But the town took our money anyway. It seems like a big scam to us. The Town showed predjudice along with Selective enforcement and they denied A Right To Life Animal & Equine Sanctuary their C.U.P due to a personal vendetta... not based on
facts. They allowed another woman, Kelly Kusick, to have 29 horses on 18 acres....but would not allow the Kettelhut's to have 8 horses on 6.34 acres.
They also committed a class 1 felony by altering and tampering with the original C.U.P minutes, 3 months after they were finalized, to cover up the fact that they mishandled our C.U.P and conducted it illegally. Many things about this town and it's board is very wrong but it is too much to put in here. If the news does another story on it, we will be sure to share it here.
Porsche Lynn-Kettelthut (the founder and President of A Right To Life Animal And Equine Sanctuary) has also been dealing with significant health issues and can't afford to pay for the cancer testing they want to do on her because the procedures (a 2nd Cat Scan and EDG and Body Scan) are about $3500 EACH out of pocket AFTER insurance. She is retired and not working due to her health issues and has no income at this time, but the horses and sanctuary are her therapy.....and her life.
She also offers an after school, weekend and summer program for free to teens dealing with anxiety, depression, bullying, sadness, self confidence issues, and in trouble with the law. The Teens can come to the sanctuary and help out around the farm and connect with the horses.
The Judge then ordered that we have to pay $11,792.50 in the Towns Legal fees for suing us.
The total we need is $12,292.50. But gofundme takes a percentage so we think the total is about $12,660
Thank you for any help. We greatly appreciate it.
