Legal Funds for Dillon McCandless

Thank you for reading this.  As you probably already know, our Son, Brother, and Friend, Dillon McCandless, was locked up on a robbery charge July 23rd of last year.   To read more about Dillon's story, check out the link to our blog. 

Dillon has pretty severe paranoid schizophrenia and has really suffered physically and mentally in jail over the past almost 14 months.  Because of mandatory minimum sentences for certain crimes, Dillon was sentenced to 105 months in Federal Prison.  In the year + that he has been incarcerated, he hasn't seen a psychiatrist once.  The way Dillon has been treated is unacceptable, and we know he isn't the only person, and especially mentally ill person, in the system to receive such treatment.  We want to see change happen.  We want Dillon, and others, to get the proper mental health care they deserve.

We have hired a legal team to try to get Dillon the help he needs, and hopefully set a precedent for changes to happen in the mental health and criminal justice systems in our country.  As the saying goes, the squeaky wheel gets the grease.  We want to squeak loud enough that we can't be ignored.  Dillon and others in similar situations can't usually speak out and be vocal for this cause, so we are asking your help to be that voice for them.  As you are all aware, lawyers are expensive.  That's why we are asking for donations from you.  We cannot do this alone.
