Win Independence from Marijuana Prohibition by Supporting Virginia NORML Today!
Bottom line – Virginia CAN end prohibition within the next 2 years, but we need your help.
Accept the Marijuana Independence Challenge -- Donate to Virginia NORML on Independence Day Weekend to be entered to win one of the following prizes:
✓ $25 or more makes you eligible to win a Virginia NORML t-shirt (20 winners)
✓ $35 or more makes you eligible to also win a free registration to the 2015 Cannabis Conference in October ($150 value, 5 winners)
✓ Donate $500+ and you’ll be entered to win a week’s lodging at a beautiful home on the coast of Panama that includes a guest membership to a golf and beach resort, including greens fees, tennis courts, and beach club ($3000 value, donated by a NORML member)
✓ Bump up that donation up to $1000 and you could win the same Panama lodging and resort amenities for TWO weeks duration.
But this campaign really isn’t about prizes. It’s about WINNING our INDEPENDENCE from MARIJUANA PROHIBITION!
At the 2014 Virginia Cannabis Conference, 95 people came together to create specific action plans to win cannabis freedom, and Virginia NORML has been hard at work ever since. Our accomplishments include:
• Organizing a successful Lobby Day at the State Capitol in Richmond, where over 60 people from all all corners of Virginia lobbied their representatives in person
• Educating citizens and legislators alike on the need for reform
• Introducing and lobbying for a decriminalization bill (SB 686)
• Endorsing candidates who publicly support ending prohibition and are willing to fight with us
• Securing pledges from legislators to introduce bills for BOTH decriminalization and legalization in 2016!
This movement is only as strong as our supporters – please help us end prohibition in Virginia by donating today! If just 4000 people donate $25 today, we will meet our $100,000 fundraising goal. And those
donating over the July 4 weekend will be entered in drawings for donated prizes worth over $6000!
Virginia NORML is counting on your support to meet our $100,000 goal ‐‐ this ensures that we can lead a consistently engaged and strategic fight leading up to election season and into next year’s legislative session.
By July 31, our goal is to raise $33,000. With your help, we’ll be able to:
• Run social media and related campaigns to raise awareness and educate the public
• Support chapter development across the state to engage Virginians in VANORML’s legislative work
• Complete a thorough analysis of the candidates on the November ballot and share it with potential voters
• Host a phenomenal 2015 Cannabis Conference, designed to bring citizen reformers together to plan the actions to achieve legislative change
• Host events that will engage the public, build membership, and expand our imprint for the campaign
• Secure two billboards to raise awareness of the issue before the November elections
By August 30, our goal is to raise an additional $34,000. With your help, we’ll also be able to:
• Hire a total of two election organizers, to coordinate and engage volunteers to support and elect pro-marijuana candidates
• Run a series of radio advertisements and billboards to help supportive candidates (and reduce votes for non-supportive candidates!)
• Hire a part-time campaign director to devote the time needed to grow the organization and position it for increased success
• Significantly increase our impact on the 2015 election – this is crucial in order to win our independence from these antiquated marijuana laws.
By September 30, our goal is to raise an additional $33,000. With our $100,000 goal met, we’ll be able
to also:
• Hire four more part-time organizers to canvass the public, sway the vote to our favored candidates, and directly engage with the public in the three weeks prior to the election
• Host a widely promoted and well organized “Marijuana Law Reform Lobby Day” that draws 300 Virginians to visit their elected legislators in January to directly advocate for our reform bills
• Run a full media and billboard blitz to influence the election and ensure that reform supporters know that they are in the MAJORITY
• Significantly “step up our game” to be a professional advocacy organization that can win further marijuana law reform in Virginia.
Again, we can’t do this without you, the sensible citizens of Virginia. Please accept the Marijuana Independence Challenge today. Here’s what you need to do:
1. Donate $25 or more today to help win freedom from antiquated Marijuana Prohibition laws for all Virginians.
VANORML respects your privacy and pledges to protect your personal information.
2. Spread the word! After you’ve donated, challenge a few friends to match your donation, or if you want, share this great donation on social media, challenging everyone to match your donation to win Cannabis Freedom in Virginia!
Please ensure that you don’t offend your friends with this ask, as it unfortunately remains a sensitive topic in far too many places today...
Virginia NORML cannot do this alone -- thank you for your support and for your help ensuring that our challenge reaches every marijuana law reform supporter in Virginia. Donate today.
