Lemon Creek Prison Garden Project

Donation protected
The Juneau Reentry Coalition (JREC) is seeking community support to expand the garden at Lemon Creek Correctional Center (LCCC), with the goal of providing inmates with productive activities during incarceration, and building valuable skills for post-release. A garden can also raise food for eating and donating to the community.

LCCC's “wish list” includes soil, tools, fertilizer, seeds, a tiller and other equipment. JREC has donated funds for “phase one” to purchase items for growing vegetables this summer. “Phase two” will support purchasing a tiller and other materials to prepare the soil for planting potatoes next year. Future goals include landscaping and creating a place where inmates can interact with their families.

We are inviting you to help us raise funds for the project. Your donation is tax deductable to NCADD, the National Council on Alcoholism and Drug Dependence, Juneau affiliate, who will work with JREC to purchase supplies and donate them to LCCC.

Thank you!
