Let's get their cousins out of a refugee camp!
Donation protected
Two years ago, the United Neighbours group brought a lovely Syrian refugee family to Toronto, Canada through a private sponsorship. The Alaalyans have thrived since coming here.
Now it’s time to bring their closest relatives to join them.
We hope to raise $15,000 toward sponsoring a family of eight. And we're hoping you can help by donating $100, $200, $500 – or whatever you can.
Your donation will help with the cost of the new family’s first year of life in Canada, including:
· Housing (rent, hydro, water)
· Transit passes
· Food and clothing
· Prescription medications and counselling, and
· Other daily needs and emergency expenses.
We found that the private sponsorship model of introducing newcomers to Canada is uniquely effective and profoundly rewarding. We’ve watched the Alaalyans progress as they learned English and took on new challenges. Mohamad is apprenticed as a bricklayer, Sanaa has started high school courses and their children are thriving, making friends and enjoying hockey and soccer.
Two years later, they are simply our friends.
But as the Syrian war drags on, they tell us about their fears for loved ones they left behind in a refugee camp in Lebanon. The children are not receiving a proper education. Finding enough work to pay for essentials is a struggle.
Our sponsorship application has already been approved. Now we’re counting on you to make it a reality.
Won’t you please help us with your donation today?
Thank you so much!
