Hi. This is Ashley’s story, who was diagnosed with Leukemia at the age of 5.
My name is Anne Vos, I live in the Netherlands and by sharing this story I want to help my Venezuelan friend Victor Diaz raise money for the treatment of his goddaughter. The story below are completely his words:
I have my whole family living in Venezuela at this moment, including my goddaughter Ashley Victoria. She is a precious 5 year old girl who was actively studying in kindergarten in her hometown Maturin, Venezuela. She is currently living with her close family in this town, Luis (dad), Maria (mom), and her immediate relatives. Her daily activities have been stopped because of something nobody expected.
On March 11th, Ashley started to have a 38°c fever until now with a slight recovery of it. On March 12th, her parents took her to the hospital for a medical check up to see what was going on with her and the results of the complete hematology with 39.000 white blood cells and 110 of platelets. The second hematology resulted in 40.000 white blood cells and platelets in 40 with cytomegalovirus and toxotest positives. (See here: https://www.healthline.com/health/toxoplasma-test )
A blood smear test was performed by another hematologist giving the results of immature cells and lymphoblast. Because of this, it was recommended to have a bone marrow inmunophenotype test (https://labtestsonline.org/tests/immunophenotyping) which resulted in common LLA (Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia). Since that moment, she has presented symptoms of fatigue, fever every day, drowsiness and bruises in her skin and mouth due to the leukemia.
Doctors say this disease is advancing really fast and it is recommended to start chemotherapy as soon as possible. She is still hospitalized in the Manuel Nuñez Tovar Public hospital in Maturin, Venezuela, receiving antibiotics and antiviral medication to prevent any infection.
Venezuela is going through the worst situation of its entire history and Ashley’s parents are unable to find anything to fight this disease, therefore they are willing to sell their stuff in Venezuela and move to another country looking for help. But it will not be enough to cover all the expenses they will have when arriving to the other country such as medicines, house rent, food, transportation, migration paperwork, if they need to buy clothes for the possible cold weather, and others (Peru). That is why I am here asking for your help. They are excellent people and I can personally guarantee this. Something needs to be done in order to save Ashley’s life. She’s full of life and wants to continue fighting to make her dreams come true.

Me llamo Anne Vos, vivo en Holanda y compartiendo esta historia quiero ayudar a mi amigo Venezolano Victor Diaz, a recaudar dinero para su ahijada. La historia abajo son completamente sus palabras:
Tengo a toda mi familia viviendo en Venezuela, incluyendo a mi ahijada Ashley Victoria. Ella es una hermosa niña de 5 años la cual estaba estudiando en el kínder en su ciudad natal Maturín, Venezuela. Actualmente está viviendo con su familia más cercana en esta ciudad como Luis (papá) y María (Mamá) además de su familia inmediata. Sus actividades diarias han sido interrumpidas debido a algo que nadie esperaba.
El día domingo 11/03/2018, Ashley comenzó a presentar fiebre en 38°C, a partir del lunes 12/03/18 comenzaron a practicar exámenes de rutina y la primera hematología completa salió en 39.000 blancos y 110 de plaquetas, la segunda hematología salió en 41.000 blancos y 40 de plaquetas y citomegaluvirus y toxotest positivo. Se realizó por un hematólogo el frotis y arrojó células inmaduras y linfoblatos. Por lo que recomendaron hacer el estudio de Inmunofenotipo de Médula Ósea el cual arrojo LLA común (Leucemia Linfoblastica Aguda). Desde entonces han hecho presencia algunos síntomas como cansancio, fiebre todos los días, somnolencia e incluso hematomas en la piel y boca debido a la misma enfermedad.
Va en avance rápido por lo que recomiendan comenzar con el tratamiento de Quimioterapias lo más pronto posible. Aún se encuentra recluida en el HUMNT de Maturín Edo. Monagas Venezuela recibiendo antibióticos y antivirales para prevención de infecciones.
Venezuela está atravesando la peor situación de toda su historia y los padres de Ashley son incapaces de encontrar algo para luchar contra esta enfermedad, por lo tanto están dispuestos a vender sus cosas en Venezuela y mudarse a otro país en busca de ayuda. Pero esto no va a ser suficiente para cubrir los gastos que tendrán al llegar al otro país como las medicinas, renta de una casa, comida, transporte, papeleo migratorio, ropa abrigada para Ashley, entre otras cosas (Perú) y es por eso que estoy aquí pidiéndoles su ayuda. Ellas son personales excelentes y puedo dar fe de ello personalmente. Algo tiene que hacerse para salvar la vida de Ashley. Ella está llena de vida y quiere seguir luchando para hacer sus sueños realidad.
