Let's send Tom to Slovakia

I have known Tom for 9 years. As classmates our lives have become intertwined even though I live in Alaska and he in Pittsburgh. I can remember the 4 summers where we used our vacation time to attend Seminary. His wife Bobbie was always there to push and encourage him in his dreams of becoming a Deacon in The Byzantine Catholic church. She was there with him from the first class to four years later when he was ordained. Their dream was to travel to Tom’s family homeland in Slovakia when they retired, but sadly that did not occur. After Bobbie’s passing Tom continued his work within the church; writing the bulletins, serving at the liturgies and teaching catechism as he continued to hold down his job and attend to the business of life without his bride. Now Tom has the opportunity to visit Slovakia this summer for a three week course in the Rusyn language and Church culture at the University of Prešov. This amazing opportunity is twofold; Tom will get to visit all the sites he and Bobbie were to share upon retirement and he can be with her in spirit. This is also an opportunity for Tom to enrich his knowledge of the Rusyn language. The language of his ancestors and the language of the Byzantine liturgy. Tom is excited to once again hear the language of his youth and to participate as a deacon, in the Divine Liturgy in the place of his ancestors. I know this trip will give Tom a great deal of knowledge that he will share with his flock and with his brother deacons in Pennsylvania. Please help in any way you can in making this dream come true for a man that truly deserves it.
Tom's opportunity is to travel to the heart of his church in Slovakia and attend a three week course at Prešov University, in Slovakia, June 3 – 24, 2017. Tom needs help with tuition and airfare. A donation of any kind will be greatly appreciated.
