Stanley saw what we were doing and wanted to use his 29 years of grooming experience to help. He eagerly went to work and told us he could do whatever we needed him to do. Soon after, a volunteer brought us a dog with a severely matted coat that needed more than just a good bath. I handed him my clippers and grooming supplies and he quickly got lost in his work. I made sure to check on him occasionally to see if everything was okay and if he needed anything. It was not until during the ABC13 interview that we found out he was homeless. I was amazed to see how even in his current situation, he wanted to volunteer his time and grooming skills to help. Thanks to the 50 volunteers and Stanley, we took care of close to 100 dogs, 10 of them being full grooms thanks to Stanley's help!
After hearing this new information about our new friend I could not walk away from this and NOT help him. I am a big believer in everything happens for a reason and we were meant to be placed in certain people's paths.
Unfortunately, my business is an in-house mobile dog grooming service which I started in July 2016. I do not have a mobile van with bathing capabilities or a store front salon. I carry my equipment in my personal car and groom my client’s dogs in people's homes. I am currently just a self-employed, one-person show. I do not personally have the option of providing him with a job myself.
With this GoFundMe me page I wish to have us all come together and give him second chance to have a better life. We know his parents passed away 5 years ago and he has been homeless for over 2 years. He obviously has an amazing heart, but stuck in a bad situation.
I have partnered up with a group of people who want to help him and we are setting a plan to get him everything he needs to succeed. This is a basic list of the necessities he will need to get started and will be updating this as we move forward.
1) Permanent Home
(He will need a place to stay rent free for up to a year to help get him settled)
2) Furniture and Bedding
3) Cell Phone
4) Food & Clothing
5) I.D.
(We currently know he has no form of identification, so if anyone has contacts for social services to help us navigate us through this process that would be awesome)
6) Transportation
(Bike would be ideal since we currently do not know if he drives)
7) Dental & Medical Care
8) Job
