Lexi's Medical Fund

We would like to introduce Lexi, our dear friend Amy's daughter.

Lexi is a beautiful, caring, energetic, athletic 9 year old whom was recently diagnosed with Chiari Malformation 1 with a spinal syrnx.   Lexi's symptoms started last fall with headaches and dizziness.  This summer these syptoms escalated causing her severe headaches with vertigo, neck, and shoulder tension.  Due to this taking over Lexi's little body, she has had to miss out on things she is most passionate about.  One of these things being her cheerleading.  Lexi has come to really love this competetive sport, that she is truly amazing at.  It has been extremely hard for her to understand why?

Many of you may not know what Chiari Malformation is, I know that we had no clue.  Here is a little about it:
Chiari malformation (kee-AH-ree mal-for-MAY-shun) is a condition in which brain tissue extends into your spinal canal. It occurs when part of your skull is abnormally small or misshapen, pressing on your brain and forcing it downward.

Chiari malformation is uncommon, but improved imaging tests have led to more frequent diagnoses.

Chiari malformation type I develops as the skull and brain are growing. As a result, signs and symptoms may not occur until late childhood or adulthood. The most common pediatric form, called Chiari malformation type II, is present at birth (congenital).

Treatment of Chiari malformation depends on the form, severity and associated symptoms. Regular monitoring, medications and surgery are treatment options. In some cases, no treatment is needed.

In Lexi's case her form is so severe that she is needing surgery.  Lexi and Amy will leave for Minnesota as soon as they get the go ahead.  Although Lexi does have Medicaid, it has been a battle to get them to cover this procedure and that is all they will cover.  Amy will still endure the cost of travel, food, loss of wages, and possible other costs for what could be a months time.  Lexi is not Amy's only child, she is one of three.  Not only will this time away be hard for the two of them, but also for Amy's two other children and the rest of their family.

We hope that you will all come together through prayer for this amazing family.  We know that this is all happening around the Holidays and money can be tight.  We assure you that any amount will help and this family will be forever thankful for your donation.

We pray that God can heal Lexi and she will be able to return doing all she loves.

Thank you all for your love and prayers over this family!

God bless to all!
