Lexington African Library Project

The funds raised will be used to create libraries in rural Africa. Our first two libraries shipped to Malawi (a nation in which a third of adults are illiterate and over 9% are HIV+) in June. We are shipping two more to Uganda in October 2019 and hope to ship more to Kenya next year! Many people in rural Africa have never touched a book since books are prohibitively expensive (for example, the average family in Malawi makes less than $1.25/day). This project also provides our community the opportunity through a simple book or financial donation to experience the joy of gratitude for what we have and the chance to share our good fortune with others.

I am in the process of organizing a variety of book collection drives. Financial donations are desperately needed to cover the costs of shipping the books to Africa (roughly $0.50/book), to purchase specific books especially useful to these communities, and small related expenses (shipping supplies, website related fees, etc.).
