LGBTQ Veterans Halsted St Monument
Donation protected
American Veterans for Equal Rights, AVER, is a national non-profit, chapter-based association of active, reserve, and veteran service members, and allies, dedicated to full and equal rights and equitable treatment for all present and former members of the United States Armed Forces.
The Chicago Chapter built and dedicated the FIRST LGBT Veterans Memorial Monument in a national cemetery in 2016 at the Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, IL. This year, we wish to dedicate a new LGBTQ monument for LGBTQ veterans IN the City of Chicago at the NW corner of Halsted Street and Addison Street. We hope to dedicate the new monument on Memorial Day this year, Monday, May 29, 2017. We need your help to raise the funds to build monument.
Any donations, large and small, will go directly to the creation of this monument, which is cost around $20,000. We have raised half of the amount so far, so we need your help to complete fundraising, with the final amount due at the end of April 2017. All contributions are tax-deductible since we are a 501c(3) organization.
The monument itself will be 5' tall, with a slanted view of the dedication, and the service emblems flanking the left and right sides.
Any questions can be sent to Tim Zylstra at [email redacted]
We thank you for your support. This will be a lasting memorial to all those brave men and women who have served and are serving in the U.S. armed forces. Working as individuals, or in cohesive units, with othes while serving our country in either war or peace, our members have accumulated distinguished records of military service that demonstrate a resolve and a commitment to cherished American ideals.
