Lift Up The Women & Children of Afghanistan
Tax deductible
Afghanistan is ranked the WORST place in the world to be a woman.
Right now, 10 million women and children are in need of humanitarian support.
UNICEF has been on the ground in Afghanistan for 65 years & has been increasing their presence as the US has been pulling out. We are raising $192 million to deliver life saving water, food, hygiene supplies and health services to the most vulnerable. UNICEF works to protect kids from trauma and to provide them with the stability and support services needed for a healthy childhood. UNICEF mobile health teams provide health care to pregnant women, mothers and children taking shelter. In 2020, nearly 122,000 people in Afghanistan gained access to safe water through UNICEF initiatives. UNICEF also works with Afghanistan's Ministry of Education to support students and teachers, build better education systems and create environments that are conducive to learning and development. Every dollar is deployed strategically and every dollar counts.
As many of you know, I am on the board of UNICEF NextGen. In our virtual field visit to Afghanistan, members of the UNICEF team shared their experience evacuating people to safety after the Kabul airport attack. One UNICEF team member went to go rescue a child whose father died and mother was severely injured and he kept reaching up as they were trying to get him away to safety and when they asked what he was doing he replied: "reaching for the stars to give it to my mother."
Some straight facts:
87% of Afghan women are illiterate, while 70-80% face forced marriage, many before the age of 16.
80% of all suicides are committed by women, making Afghanistan one of the few places in the world where rates are higher among women.
2/3rds of girls are out of school.
Let's help more women and children reach for the stars.
If a monetary donation is not an option right now, please help spread awareness by sharing this campaign.
Thank you!! So appreciative of all of you taking time to read this and support in any way. Love you all so much!!
