ABOUT LIP SYNC COCKTAIL LOUNGE

My name is Natalie, I’m the founder of Lip Sync, up until now a travelling rent-a-bar and cocktail class-offering small business. We exist to help bring cocktail, natural wine, and craft beer enjoyment to the queer community of Toronto.

I’ve been working in cocktail-focused bars since 2019, with a decade more of prior experience in the food & beverage industry. Lip Sync’s events have always taken place in people’s homes and in borrowed spaces; it’s time to change that.

I believe Church-Wellesley Village is in need of another casual, comfortable, accessible space where the 2SLGBTQIA+ community can sit and have a nice coffee, dinner, or beverage whether solo or with friends and chosen family. As a long-time resident of the Village myself, I look forward to building another beautiful space for my friends, neighbours, and neighbourhood visitors to enjoy.

Party and drinking culture are a huge part of celebration in our community so on top of our ever-rotating cocktail menu, natural wine, and local craft beer options, Lip Sync will offer non-alcoholic cocktails, NA wine, and NA beer that have been given just as much thought and attention as our spirited menu. I hope to provide a fresh framework for social gatherings over food and drink.

At the forefront of the Lip Sync food menu are flavours pulled from my family’s traditional Jamaican-Chinese and West-Indian cuisine, with a Toronto palate in mind. A large selection of our dishes are vegan, vegetarian, gluten-free and pescatarian-friendly.

HOW YOU CAN HELP

We plan to open with a bang in the summer of 2025 with our first themed karaoke night, theme to be announced. Donations of all sizes will allow Lip Sync to become a go-to safe and inclusive space for the local community and visitors. Please consider sharing this page far and wide with your networks.

MORE ABOUT LIP SYNC

Lip Sync is open to all who have respect for its staff and the neighbourhood community. Our goal is to run a queer bar that creates more space in the village for women, non-binary, and trans folks.

Lip Sync’s event programming will feature monthly themed karaoke nights, Wine Wednesdays, neighbourhood open mics, and reviving piano culture in the Village with cabaret Sundays. All ticket pricing will follow a Pay-What-You-Can format. These will be opportunities for more queer, sapphic, women, trans, and non-binary members of Toronto & the GTA’s 2SLGBTQIA+ community to meet, connect, and enjoy the village!

During the day, Lip Sync will operate as a café and work-from-home space; a hub for creativity and collaboration. We will also be a third place available for community groups to hold gatherings and for neighbourhood folks to enjoy. The space will be available to host mid-sized private events upon request. We look forward to being a space where patrons can share music, sell their art, skill share, and more!

All proceeds from this fundraiser will go directly toward opening Lip Sync and supporting its inaugural year. This includes the bar, kitchen, and restaurant’s build out, architect fees, zoning fees, and building fees. Fixtures, furnishings, decor, storage, beverage supplies and gender-neutral bathroom renovations will also be supported by these funds.
