Lisa George Recovery Fund

Hello. My name is Leila. On March 31st, my mother, Lisa George, was involved in a catastrophic bicycle accident on Williams St in North Portland, where she was crushed under the wheel of a car.

We are lucky for several reasons. One, she is alive. Considering the severity of the accident, this is a miracle. Also a miracle, her brain is healthy (wear your bike helmets people!), and she is not paralyzed. Despite these precious strokes of luck, she has a long list of injuries including fractures to her spine, ribs, hips, arms, hands, jaw, and shoulders. And those are just the fractures.

As you can imagine, we have many medical expenses. Surgeries, hospital stay, care. In addition, my mom will be out of work for at least 6 months. If the insurance money comes through, it will be unlikely to cover all of her bills, home care needs, and lost wages. Times are going to be tough.

My mom has spent her life giving to the community. Growing up, I remember our family hosting bi-weekly free meals in public parks around Portland. She currently runs a community service program through Portland Community College, where she inspires others to give back. Serving the community has always been a central part of her life.

In these difficult times, we ask the community to return the favor. Please help my mom with your love, your support, and importantly, a financial contribution. Whatever you give is up to you; we just ask that you give as generously as you can. Please give today.
