CAREER CUT SHORT. BEDRIDDEN FOR THE LAST 20 YEARS. THE GOOD NEWS IS... There is something which is providing hope. Right now in Australia and other countries. THE BAD NEWS IS... Though the Treatment is approved by the Australian Government for 3 diseases, the medicine is not subsidized by the Government costing patients anywhere from $300 per month and more. The goal IS $2000 however treatment is for a lifetime. LISA HAS BEEN APPROVED FOR THE SCHEME... Thanks to the generosity of a friend, she has been able to apply for and has been approved by the Australian Government to go on the Scheme. But she is at the end of her savings. Each bottle of oil is paid for from donations or kindness of friends. THIS NEW TREATMENT IS ALREADY SHOWING POSITIVE RESULTS FOR LISA... It has now been a few months and this new treatment is helping her pain to the point where her doctor has started slowly lowering many of the dangerous medicines she is currently taking. She was taking 20 medications a day but has cut out ten of them. These medicines or Opioids have dreadful side-effects and are the cause of raised liver enzymes and cognitive demise. These drugs are Lyrica & Tegretol (epileptic drugs),Targin, Palexia & Endone (opiates), Effexsor & Endep (antidepressants), Baclofen & Diazepam (antispasmodics), Deralin (a beta-blocker) and more. She has been crippled by severe Stenosis (narrowing) of the Cervical Spine, Neuropathic Oral facial pain, Bilateral Trigeminal Neuralgia, Temporomandibular Joint Disorder, Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy (which left her right hand impaired), Chronic Regional Pain, Endometriosis, Severe Migraines, Depression, Chronic Fatigue and Asthma. She was hospitalised for a week last year with horrendous pain down her right arm which was caused by bone and disc bulging into the cervical spinal cord. Basically (apart from the cervical stenosis) her illnesses are caused by a damaged nervous system resulting in chronic and incurable pain. It was highly recommended that she NOT go through with an operation due to complications from other illnesses and the further debilitating effects the operation would cause. In other words, the operation is not a cure. It all started in 1986 causing years of chronic acute pain until it was diagnosed by the Royal North Shore Hospital in 2002. She struggled to continue to work until 2006. Since then I have witnessed her languish, unable to continue her career as a talented and successful Fine Artist and Graphic Designer. She was also a keen bush-walker and loved her gym and Yoga. The Disability Pension finally put the-nail-in-the-coffin for her financially, as well as having to wait 8.5 years for rental accommodation with Housing. In this time she has had to access her Superannuation and savings while she struggled to survive on the pension while having 7 moves in 8 years in the private rental market. Finally she became homeless in 2012. The cost of rent, scripts, food, vet costs (She has 3 rescue dogs, 3 now after having take over the care of her mother's dog after she fell ill with Dementia), car costs, insurance, food, etc ..., go so far beyond the limits of what the pension can provide. She can barely survive. She loves her dogs but they are getting older and are requiring medical treatment which is putting more of a pressure on her budget.
