Kaitlyn Cota's Recovery Fund

On January 24th 2015, our lives were forever changed. Kaitlyn Cota was involved in a multi car motor vehicle accident. She suffered from a C5, C6 cervical fracture leaving her paralyzed from the chest down.
For those that know Kaitlyn know that she has a heart of gold. She doesn’t complain and is a driven young lady.
Although the doctors tell us she will never walk again, she is determined to do what she can with what she is given. She continues to amaze us everyday with her hard work and determination.
When Kaitlyn was sixteen, she became very ill. We watched her body shrink, her hair fall out and basically waste away to a tiny 100lbs. We soon found out that she was a type 1 diabetic and her illness actually caused her to go blind. During the time of recovery and getting her blood sugars under control, she continued to play varsity sports and ran with her field hockey team each day with the coach leading her around the track. Kaitlyn went through surgery to repair her eyesight and continued to thrive through her senior year and sporting events.
After graduating high school she started full time employment at the National Life Group where she is currently employed.
She has traveled to Guatemala, volunteering her time to work with small children in area schools and was afforded the opportunity to see the world in a whole different light.
She bought her own house at the age of 21 in Washington VT where she hopes to return in a few months.
Her determination and strength will see her through her adversities and she will overcome. She may never be the physical person she once was but she will be the best person she can be with what God gives her.
We are blessed to have the support of her friends and family to help her through this trying time. She will need continuous care 24 hours a day until she can be independent. The prayers and well wishes from the community accompanied with her determination saved her life and we are forever thankful.
