Loma Vista Farm's animal fund
Tax deductible
Loma Vista Farm is a public and private venture between the Vallejo City Unified School District and the Friends of Loma Vista Farm, a community-based nonprofit organization established in 2003. The Friends provide fiscal, administrative, and organizational oversight and leadership. Its Board is comprised of teachers, parents, community members, and representatives from local businesses. The Friends’ mission is to support Loma Vista Farm and Garden Center with funding, future planning and development, and management.
Loma Vista Farm has been making a difference in Vallejo and Solano County for more than 30 years by providing schoolchildren with experiential learning opportunities that bolster their academic skills in reading, writing, math, social science, language arts, science, and health in a farm-based setting. Many of the students served are enrolled in special-education classes, are from low-income circumstances, or come from our diverse communities.
This year the costs to maintain our farm animals have sky-rocketed, and we really need your help. We are soliciting to donate to our active animal fund, which has been set up to feed and take care of the animals, including their veterinary care. This year, owing to the age of our animals, our veterinary care has almost doubled. We welcome this challenge because it indicates that we’ve done a really good job caring for our animals through the years. Many of our farm animals are outliving their average life span. For example, Albert (one of our horses, greeted by thousands of kids a year) turns 39 this year. The average life span for a horse would indicate that Albert should never have even come close to that age!
We need your help. You can do this by logging onto our website and donating there (make sure to mention that your donation is for the animal fund) or by sending a check to Friends of Loma Vista Farm, 150 Rainier Ave., Vallejo, CA 94589. Again, please make sure to write “Animal Fund” on the memo line.
Thank you for your support.
