Love Precious Sophia

SOPHIA'S STORY:
Sophia is a precious 8 year old who has suffered with medical issues her entire life with the diagnosis of death inevitable. She and her brother are home schooled by their amazing mom.   Her medical issues do not permit her to attend public schools due to the fact a life threatening medical issue can present itself at anytime. Sophia and her family have been told all her life she would probably not live long but Sophia is a fighter! Things were going well until she started falling around Christmas 2014.  They began genetic testing and found she carried genetic mutations and sequencing as well as two dominant genes for muscular dystrophy. Sophia then began suffering a series of massive strokes, which left her paralyzed,  and discovered her right internal carotid artery had closed. She has since recovered from the strokes but is still weak on her left side. After further testing Sophia was diagnosed with Moyamoya. Moyamoya disease is caused by blocked arteries at the base of the brain. Sophia is categorized as having "an unknown genetic vasculopathy".  She is at this time, and has been for awhile, receiving treatment at Cook Children's Medical Center in Fort Worth, TX. All the while having medical issues arise regularly. It is a 5 - 6 hour drive one way for her and her family each time Sophia has an appointment or medical emergency. There are times she has been airlifted in because her situation was life threatening. February 6th she will undergo Dural Inversion Revasculariztion surgery.  First we are asking for your prayers! This sweet family has and are enduring so much emotionally, mentally and financially. They have one vehicle, which is very inconvenient when Dad has to stay home, work and pay the bills. The cost of gas, living expense, etc are costly when they travel for treatments. Dad wants and needs to take time off to be with his daughter and family, which means no pay. After surgery there may be a need for remodeling inside the home to accomodate Sophia. The list goes on as to why we are asking for help. Please open your heart to this beautiful young lady, who has so much love, fight, strength and will. We are in need of immediate funds so Dad can be with Sophia before, during and after the surgery.
