Help Thu Doan fight Cancer

Donation protected
My name is AnhDao Bui and our brothers and sisters from  our youth group, Gia Dinh Phat Tu(GDPT) Van Hanh New Mexico, have created this page in order to help Thu Doan,  a fellow sister in need.

For those who know Thu, she is a one of a kind young lady who is always willing to help anyone in need. She is so positive and strong about life, and there is never a moment where she doesn’t have a smile on her face.  Even today, when CANCER had crept back into her life, you can still find her smiling despite the hurdles life continues to throw at her.

In January 2008, Thu was diagnosed with angiosarcoma cancer. She was just 16 years old at the time. During that time, she undergone numerous rounds of chemotherapy and surgeries. She was announced to be cancer free in early 2009.

However, in May 2014, Thu started feeling pain in her arm and made multiple trips to the doctor to see what was wrong. After 12 months, one of her doctors finally sent her in to get a biopsy scan. The result turned out to be a tumor. Now 25 years old, Thu was diagnosed with the same cancer that she was inflicted with previously, only this time it was in her forearm. Right after, Thu went to get a whole body MRI scan and they found one small spec of something they assumed was cancer. They told her that they would operate on her arm after radiation and also operate to get that little spec out from her lungs.

Thu went through intensive radiation every day for 5 weeks.  After finishing up with radiation, her doctor found that one spec of cancer had developed into 14 different other spots of cancer in her lungs. Within, a week her doctor had to have Thu start intensive chemotherapy. Now, Thu has to be hospitalized for 5 days straight every 3 weeks for chemotherapy. After getting her first round of Chemotherapy, Thu’s white blood cell had dropped so much that she developed a serious infection that almost took her life.

Even though Thu has gone through so much, she continues to be positive. Thu’s plan is to go to work when she can and continues to help her family pay for everyday bills, while still getting chemo. Thu’s mom continues to work; however, she has to take weeks of leave at a time to take care of Thu in the hospital and at home. Every day that Thu is in the hospital, her mom is right beside her to take care of her. Thu hasn’t admitted it to herself, but I can tell that her family is struggling financially.  Thankfully, Thu and her family do not have to worry about medical bills because Thu has Medicaid.

Our love and support will go a long way in aiding Thu's recovery. With your support, we can raise money to buy things to make Thu’s hospital stay more comfortable, as well as helping Thu and her family pays for every day bills. We want Thu to focus on getting better and for her family to not have to worry about making ends meet.  We want to help ensure they can focus solely on taking care of Thu at this time when she needs them the most. Unfortunately, chemotherapy will not be the end of Thu’s treatment. She will have to go through surgeries both in her arm and in her lungs.   Please help us in supporting Thu through this difficult time.  If you can’t give financially, please help us by sharing this message with your family, friends, and community.

All funds raised will go toward helping Thu and her family to pay for:

1.       Rent/utilities : $900 X 12 months= $10,800

2.       everyday  necessity expenses $400 monthly: $4,800

3.       ensure milk to keep her strong, when she can’t eat ($40x36= $1440)

4.       Fucoidan supplement 12 months =$12,600

Total amount to be raised: $29,640
