Machrihanish Golf Club Clubhouse fund
Donation protected
On the 19th December 2018 Machrihanish Golf Club suffered a devastating fire which destroyed our historic Clubhouse. Sadly, this resulted in the building having to be completely demolished.
This has been a traumatic time for staff, members and visitors alike, who have many happy memories of the clubhouse over the years.
Following the fire, the Golf Club acted quickly and carried out a survey of the membership to obtain a set of design parameters for the new building. The results of the consultation revealed a high percentage of our membership felt the inclusion of an indoor practice area would be a major asset to the Club.
The insurance policy the Club had covers like for like, therefore only allows replacement of facilities that were within the original clubhouse. This means that the insurance monies are not permitted to be used for the construction of a new indoor practice room in the new building and the golf club require to fund this independently.
An indoor practice room will allow golfers of all ages and abilities to hone their skills all year round via a simulator. The facility would be available for hire by members to practice, receive tuition and for recreational use. This will provide another valuable source of revenue for the club in the years to come and provide an area to enjoy golf during the periods of inclement weather we experience on the West coast of Scotland.
Trying to ensure growth of membership of all categories is of vital importance to the long-term sustainability of golf in this area and we see a practice room as key to this development. Gaining an asset such as this will dramatically improve the facilities that we are able to offer our members and guests and be of great benefit in the development of our junior section.
We are therefore looking for your help to purchase the equipment and technology required to make this facility a reality.
There is a long road ahead but one we feel confident will see Machrihanish Golf Club with a new, modern clubhouse to be proud of and where we can look forward to providing a warm welcome to all our members, visitors and friends.
We thank you for the taking the time to read our appeal and for the support given throughout these difficult times.
