Maggi's Fight Against Pancreatic Cancer

Maggi Rock is the mother to two, grandmother of four, sister to four and friend to many. Everyone that knows her knows that she's always the life of the party and loves to make people laugh. What may not be so well-known is that she is fighting for her life. In May of this year she started feeling unwell but didn't think too much about it. In June she became jaundice and surgeons found a mass that would turn out to be pancreatic cancer. Maggi decided she would have the team at Duke look after her and decide her treatment plan. All of the nurses and doctors love her and she keeps them laughing with her stand-up routines. She has tried to continue working but her chemo treatments make it hard for her to do as much as she wants. Maggi has had several chemo treatments, two stent replacements, countless blood test, several CT scans all with the hope of a full recovery. Her surgeons have decided that a Whipple procedure is what she needs and that will be in store for her in the near future. Maggi has always put everyone above herself. Sometimes people don't realize what she's going through because she puts on a brave face and is always ready with a smile. Though she is fighting cancer she is also struggling financially. Her medical bills are outstanding and she's the only person in her household. Her living expenses are still there even when she isn't well enough to go to work.
