Help Baby Matilda
and her Mummy & Daddy get the best start
My Granddaughter Matilda was born on the 3rd of December 2017, 15 weeks prematurely weighing 800g in a hospital in Italy were the doctors say she will have to stay until her due date on 14th March 2018.
Back story
My daughter Jordan, a nursing student at UEA in Norwich and her partner Ash, planned a little pre christmas, pre baby break in venice. They had saved hard to have a little treat after a difficult year.
Ash had to move back to Yorkshire from Norwich to be a support to his dad on the death of his step mum, leaving Jordan to finish her University studies and only seeing each other twice a month.
In August they found out they were expecting a baby in March 2018 and although it would be difficult as Jordan still had a year of Uni to finish, they were so excited to be having a baby.
Fate was to deliver one more twist before the end of 2017. When Jordan was rushed to hospital in Trento Italy and went into labour at 25 weeks pregnant and gave birth to Matilda, who went straight into the NICU.
She has had to have a blood transfusion and is on oxygen but is holding her own, a real little fighter and the doctors are pleased with her, and may release her from hospital at the beginning of february if all goes well. But she will need to stay close to the hospital until her due date in march before she will be allowed to come home to the UK.
Why go fund me?
The insurance company have been good and paid for an apartment close to the hospital for them, Ash's boss has been very understanding and is keeping his job open for him for when he returns and as a family we are doing all we can making sure their financial obligations in the uk are met while they are unable to do this themselves.
But they have used all their savings and money put aside for baby equipment in order to fund their day to day living expenses while in Italy.
The money donated on this page will help towards the cost of all the baby equipment needed from a cot and sheets to a sterilising unit, monitors and other items a premature baby would need. So everything is ready for them to come back home.
I know that it is just after Christmas and finances are tight for everyone, but any contribution would be very gratefully received and will go a long way to help lessen their worries about the future. so they can just enjoy spending time with their little girl
