Help Me Make Music!

Hello there! My name is Colleen Mahoney and this is my campaign to try and raise enough money to make my first full professionally recorded album.
If you're here, it's most likely because you've either heard one of my singles on the radio, or seen my new music video for "Bridges". I had so much fun making both projects! If anything, they've both given me even more determination to continue following my dream of being a singer/songwriter.
You see, to me music is that universal language we all share. Everyone has had a song they've connected with, where they feel like it was written just for them. A song that makes you smile, cry, laugh, dance or just feel like there's someone else in this world who understands what you're going through. To me, music is so much more than a catchy chorus or sweet beat. What makes a song so special to me is the message behind the melody.
I've been writing music for about 12 years now (since I was eight years-old) and each song I write is an attempt to make a meaningful connection between people. I try to create songs with lyrics that will touch other's lives, that will make someone happy, or change their point of view. I want my music to bring awareness, or maybe just let someone know they're not alone. I want to use my own experiences (the good and the bad) to try and inspire someone, to touch them in the way that only music can.
This campaign will hopefully help me accomplish this lofty dream. Your donations will bring me one step closer to making my music into something special, something I can share with the world. All the proceeds raised will go towards the album, which I am hoping to start working on sometime in the spring/summer of 2016. All the songs on the album will be original, and will include my two singles ("Fly" and "Bridges ") which I recorded last year with Andrew Horrocks at AME studios . Even if the full amount isn't raised, I will take whatever donations I can get to at least record a few more songs (each song is about $1500).
This is so much more than an investment in my future, it's an investment into changing lives. I believe that together we can do something incredible. Music is not a solo project. Sure, I might write and perform the songs, but it's only through working with incredible musicians, producers and everyday people that inspirational music is made.
