Main Street Ballroom Flood Disaster
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Kate, the founder and owner of Main Street Ballroom! We are a wedding and event venue nestled in the heart of historic Ellicott City, Maryland, situated within a stone warehouse built in the 1920's. We are a woman-owned small business that started from the ground up. We subscribe to an "All Are Welcome" philosophy that is inclusive of all couples across all races, faiths, and genders.
On Sunday, May 27th, 2018 historic Ellicott City endured a torrential storm that devastated the area. The city's infrastructure, established in 1772, was no match for the 8+ inches of rain that fell in a short couple of hours. Many businesses in our small city are now crippled by the destruction of this flood, including us.
We have cancelled and refunded our entire book of weddings through July as we get back on our feet. As any one knows, this is prime wedding season and this will be particularly painful on our bottom line.
If you would like to contribute to our fund, we would be especially grateful! We will use any money donated on clean-up efforts, furnishings within the ballroom and to install a memorial for Eddison Hermond, National Guardsman and Air Force veteran, who was tragically killed trying to save our neighbor in the flood.

Our philosophy - We Welcome All - printed on our floor.
The facade of our building in drier times.
View from inside the venue on Sunday, May 27th, 2018 as the floods ravaged outside.
Wedding guests escape via back stairs as water rushes in.
We were able to salvage a bouquet a few days later.
The clean up begins! New beginnings!
