Make every second count

Hi there, I wanted to tell u abit about how i got where i am today. I had a bit of heartburn in nov 2016 and went to gp who then sent me to a cardiac clinic same day who then kept me in hospital for 5wks! Turned out i had a massive blockage and was lucky not to have had a HA . All went well after my double bypass untill..christmas the pain was horrific and i was swelling up to the left of my sternum cut a long story short i knew something had happened as i was increasing on morphine by the week where i should be reducing! I went to see my gp every week for 8wks and even begged for an xray but each time i was turned away and told i a was being dramatic and just trying to get more morphine!! After the 8th visit i was in so much pain i rang my surgeon and told him as i was in agony this was feb17, He did a ct scan that week and 2days later i was rushed in for emergency surgery... Right side of sternum had fractured and the left side had totally disintegrated leaving my left ribs free floating which was wot i could feel and my chest cavity was filled wilth puss. I was told if they hadnt done this repair i would of died in the next few days! Got home week later amd over a feew weeks i knew once again it wasnt right so again scans etc they showed that again it had all collapsed.i was told to live with it!! weeks later i saw a documentary of a man having a 3d printed titanium sternum and rib cage implantted in uk so i tracked down the surgeon who did it and he was happy to see me. So now i am having this amazing implant done anytime soon and i will be the 4th person in the world to have it and the 1st female in the uk.it was custom made for me by a company in australia called anatomics then shipped over here. I am just now waiting to get a date for the surgery.it has been a very long wait I want to get my story out there as for anyone that could be in the same situation this could and is life changing and a life saver! I have recently made contact with a lovely young girl who has just had the same surgery, she is the 1st person in the usa to have it done and she has become a good friend. We chat often online and by phone and i hope to bring her over to the uk to meet my surgeon one day. She like me also wants to help people who may be suffering that dont even know this implant is available. If my story helps just 1 person i will be very happy. Im going to let the world know im a survivor and i fully intend to use my story to do some good and then at least all the pain and upset and just everything i have been thru will not be for nothing! At the start of all my problems my 1st granddaughter was born in australia and i had arranged to go to visit but with everything that happened ive not been able to go as yet and i want to meet her so much. This is my reason for the go fund me as i have had so much support ,cards,gifts,flowers of people all over the world and i want to visit each of these friends and personally thank them , to do this tho i will need to raise the money as this is not just a holiday, its so much more than that, i want to use my story and raise awareness and help promote 3D printing as so many people are suffering and have no knowledge of this implant and others that are available,  i owe my life to the company anatomics who made my implant and if i manage to help even 1 person it will make it all worthwhile. I am hoping to meet my friend who lives in new york who has had this implant and i would like to take her with me to australia so we can both go to visit the amazing anatomics and thank them for our implants and then finally i can spend some much needed time to recuperate and  recover. for me the best medicine i could wish for is to finally hold my grandaughter in my arms. This for me will be the final chapter in what has been the worst 16mths of my life. If i can raise even a small portion of the funds i would need i would feel very lucky as this is so important to me and the 1 person that im determined to do this for is my mum as she has been with me all the way until she passed away in january and i know she wants me to do this so.. Mum..this is for you, your girl is doing this. Thank you to everybody that takes the time to read this .
