Make Kyle smile

In January 2014 Kyle Buckley a Year 6 pupil from Saint Bedes school in Bolton was diagnosed with a rare muscle tissue cancer called Rhabdomyosarcoma. During intensive treatment, a drug had an adverse effect on Kyle and he became deaf in July 2014. Giving it his all, he fought hard but Kyle unfortunately relapsed in May 2015. Kyle underwent a course of chemotherapy and twenty five session of radiotherapy and was given the all clear in December 2015. In March of this year, Kyle had his three month routine scan which showed the cancer had returned. Kyle is once again starting treatment to keep the cancer at bay until a trial becomes available and is offered.

Throughout his illness, Kyle has remained so positive and has a constant smile on his face. Kyle’s mum, Carol also lost her husband to bowel cancer when Kyle was only 9 months old. There are some options open to Kyle which involve him travelling to America for treatment. As you can imagine, this is an expensive option, but one that we feel is extremely important.

For this reason, a ‘Gofundme’ fundraising page has been set up with the aim to raise as much money for Kyle as  possible. All donations will go directly to Kyle and will support and help him with his treatment. As a school Saint Bedes plan to hold some fundraising events in the near future but would greatly appreciate any donations, however big or small, to Kyle’s ‘Gofundme’ page.

My personal challenge and as a thankyou to all those kind people who donate to help Kyle is to participate in a sporting event every month for 1 year. March was kick started with a 30 mile duathlon and July is set to be a toughy when i attempt an ultra marathon! 60 miles in one race! I will keep you all updated as we go so please please help in any way you can.
