Eliezer Malahi Children Fund

Donation protected
Eli Malahi, my husband was killed Aug. 25th by not one, but TWO hit and run drivers. There has been media coverage and wonderful response from the community looking for ways to help them in their time of grief. He leaves behind 2 beautiful children that he loved dearly, Matan, 19 and Adrielle, 11.

Matan has lost nearly all his belongings and most of his father's belongings as he had to give up the apartment he shared with his father quickly to leave for Israel to bury his father taking what little money he has with him. The landlord refused to waive any fees or give him time to mourn and return from the funeral.

The one car we owned was part of the crime scene and damaged. Neither Matan or I could ever drive it again anyway. Matan has no transportation to school now. He was to be a senior in college this year, but that has been put on hold. Unsure of his future. The rest of the family could not attend the funeral as money is scarce.

The funeral alone cost $7000  and plane ticket in high season and short notice cost over $2000.00. There was no money to pay the rent, no help on such short notice for anything. Matan used much of his savings to move out of the apartment.

Eliezer 'Eli' Malahi loved his children dearly. If you spoke to anyone who knew him you would see it immediately. Now they not only lost their father, but the future has been changed forever. Life will be harder. Money is already scarce, but now it will be nearly unbearable as each day's hardship will be a reminder of what they lost. Not having their father will truly change the influence of the lives.

The money raised will go into a fund set up for the children already to provide them with some needed essentials and to save for their futures. It will also be used for Matan and hopefully Adrielle to visit the grave of their father 1 year from now, the end of the mourning period to say goodbye.

My husband and I were separated not for lack of love, but for personal reasons. We both were struggling to support our children the best way we could. He and the children did not deserve this to happen. Eli's life was stolen away. A horrific tragedy that time will never erase. None of us will heal completely from it.

Any monies raised will directly benefit them as they are my life, as they were their father's. Please help me make their life at least a bit more bearable. Matan so worries for the future and Adrielle still doesn't understand the implications.
