Classrooms For Malawi

On the 18th September, I will be embarking upon a fantastic opportunity to travel to Blantyre, Malawi to help build a brand new school within Williams Village. Currently there is no school within 7km and no learning opportunities for almost 600 children. Children there are currently taught under the shelter of trees, completely exposed to the elements or within unsafe and crumbling buildings.
I will be part of a large team of colleagues from Renfrewshire Council working alongside the local community for two weeks. We will be building a three classroom school, with kitchen area and teachers accommodation.
It will be hard work but very worthwhile. Research to date has shown that the most sustainable route out of poverty for individuals and poor communities is through education.

As I am volunteering, I am looking for funding to help towards my travel, accommodation and purchase of tools and resources for the project. I have always wanted to do something like this and will be a dream come true for me. I know it will be a lot of hard work however that does not put me off.
Please donate what ever you can. 100% of the donations will be put towards the funding of my trip and most importantly will help the community in Malawi. We will also be purchasing and fund raising for school resources, and additional monies raised will help towards this too.
