Mamadi's Funeral

You may have heard the sad news of the sudden passing of Mamadi Kamara, who passed away on the morning of Tuesday 22nd of May 2018, with his family by his side at the age of 69 - 34 days before his 70th birthday.
I am setting up this GoFundMe page to help support the family with the funeral costs.
Mamadi was diagnosed with lung cancer early last year and underwent chemotherapy and radiotherapy to treat the cancer, which was working as he was still active. However, in April 2018, he was prescribed incorrect medications, one of which was to suppress the function of the immune system. This appeared to worsen his condition and speed up the spread of the cancer until his untimely death a few weeks later.
Mamadi was a internationally known musician and composer who was often dubbed as the 'Master Percussionist'. He started his career in 1964 and was a member of the much acclaimed Sierra Leonian band, SuperCombo, the first nationally known band in that country. After arriving in London in the early 70s, he built a solid reputation playing with the top African, Reggae and Jazz artists which included Nina Simone, Don Cherry, Archie Shepp, Randy Weston. He was also a founding member of the Jazz Warriors alongside Courtney Pine.
Complimenting his musical career, he also used his talents to help mentor and teach young people in the community across London.
Mamadi was a rebel with a fighting spirit and he bravely fought until the end. He was full of life and was respected and loved in musical circles and beyond. We would appreciate any contribution you can make towards Mamadi's funeral costs - it is matter of urgency and we thank you in advance for your consideration and timely action.
