Marcus Garvey Day Celebration

This year marks the 130th Anniversary for the Birth of The Honorable Marcus Mosiah Garvey.  This mans great  legacy has had a positive, and immeasureable impact upon the lives of people of African Decent throughout the world.  As we have done for over 30 years The Malcom X and Marcus Garvey Day Committe come together to celebrate and pay tribute to the life of Marcus Mosiah Garvey.  A few of the many reasons we celebrate Marcus Garvey is because his teachings and practices offered us solutions to the problems we face as a people. Four particular principles that guide us and will guide our celebration are Love of Self, Unity of African People, Do for self, and the Need for Organization.This celebration will also consist of the Annual Marcus Garvey Day Parade, family workshops, live entertainment, cultural show and rally, an African Marketplace, informational and artistic displays, food, and much more!!!
   For this event as we do every year,we reach out to the community and seek sponsorship and support to help make this day a great success in honoring our ancestor.

Our Celebration will be held August 17th, 2017, the birthday of Marcus Garvey, 3pm-9pm @ The Martha Mitchell Community Center.
