Marquette's Memorial Fund

On Sunday, May 20, 2018, Marquette Clark was murdered just a short distance from his home. Only sixteen years old, Marquette was a student at Raines High School and had an incredibly bright future ahead of him.I was Marquette's fifth grade teacher--he was one of the silliest, smartest, most caring students I had and I couldn't be more thankful for the time I spent with him. Throughout my time with Marquette, I got to know his family: a deeply involved and loving mom, little brothers and an older sister who turned to him as their mentor, and friends across Jacksonville who viewed him as family. Marquette impacted the lives of everyone he met--his potential to change the world was tragically cut short.

It is suspected that Marquette was shot for his shoes and his cell phone as both were missing when discovered by police just after 3pm on Sunday. Jacksonville police have no suspects identified at this time, but anyone with any information about this case is asked to contact Crime Stoppers at 1-866-845-TIPS or email [email redacted].

All contributions will go directly to Marquette's family as they continue to mourn the loss of their beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend. The goal ($5,000) is to cover the expenses of Marquette's memorial service--all dates have yet to be worked out, but as information is made available, I will update this page. **According to local news records , this is the 40th homicide of 2018, and the 18th death of a child due to gun violence since 2016.
