Marti Drase Memorial Fund

Marti Lynn Drase, 69, of North Aurora, passed away Wednesday, February 20, 2019 at Delnor Hospital.  Marti was born October 3, 1949, in Chicago, IL the daughter of Martin B. and Lorayne (nee Smith) Roberts.  She was united in marriage to Kenneth John Drase October 21, 1972 in Buffalo Grove, IL.

Marti took great pride in her family, workplace, and crafting.  Marti loved her family and would often reminisce about all the memories she treasured from growing up.  She made it a priority to create similar loving and fun experiences for her own family and always went above and beyond to make things special and memorable.  Marti was a dedicated, tireless, and loving wife and mother who kept a home in the true image of her personality and ambitions.  Her home was always filled with beautiful treasures she collected while antiquing with her husband, Ken, who helped her visions come to life.  She kept a home that displayed her creative eye for decorating and crafting and welcomed all visitors with warmth and love.

During her son’s elementary years, Marti volunteered endless hours at Schneider Elementary School and was recognized with the prestigious Golden Apple Award for Excellence – an award normally reserved for teachers in Illinois.  After years of active home keeping, she began a career as an assistant for Northwestern Mutual Life and was proud to achieve licensure to be an Associate Financial Representative.  Marti missed the school setting, so she took a position and spent a number of years as Principal Secretary at Alice Gustafson School – a position which enriched her life a great deal.  Since her time at AGS, she returned to NML and also held other positions which supported education.  She always enjoyed reading, crafting, attending her son’s band concerts, traveling to Colorado, adopting dogs, and gifting.  Marti’s spirit was one of giving, and she always took pride in finding the right gift for all of those in her life.

She is survived by her loving husband Kenneth; a son Matthew Gary (Beth) Drase; her Mother, Lorayne Roberts; her siblings Jackie (Feryl) Waldenmyer, Susan Roberts, and Donald (Sue) Roberts; and a brother-in-law Tom Balla; as well as many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her Father, Martin Roberts, she is preceded in death by her sister Susanne Balla as well as many loving pets. 

Memorial services will be held 4:00 P.M. Saturday, March 9, 2019 at Moss Family Funeral Home 209 South Batavia Ave. Batavia, IL.  Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until the time of the service at the funeral home.
