Migrants in Tucson Need Your Help!

Donation protected

URGENT NEED Justice Alliance members in Tucson are directly witnessing the current humanitarian crisis that is being reported in the national news by CBS, Arizona Daily Star and other outlets (links below). Hundreds of men, women and children have been released en masse from immigration custody into Tucson. They have no resources, clothes, food, or basic necessities. Churches and shelters have stepped into the gulf to feed, house, arrange medical evaluations for those who appear ill, and assist with transportation.

A JA member who is a congregant at one of the churches providing aid says, “These migrants are in dire need, many do not speak English, and last night we saw every corner of the church being used for childcare, sleeping quarters, food preparation and emotional support for people in crisis. And we are only one place. ” Churches and shelters are stretched very thin, and need financial assistance to continue to provide care. Donations will be used to purchase meat and vegetables in large quantities, feminine hygiene supplies, toilet paper, blankets and to defray transportation costs. Go Fund Me takes some time to process your donations even though the need is immediate. JA members will also step into the gulf by “pre-paying” your donations so people can eat today. Justice Alliance will give your donations directly to a central coordinator of the humanitarian effort. We will keep you updated, as this crisis is still emerging.
