Matt Giraud Fights Hunger
Tax deductible
Matt Giraud, American Idol Contestant from Season 8, and CALTRAN, a 501(c)(3) hunger-relief charity, are attempting to raise $1.5 million dollars to feed the homeless, hungry, elderly, disabled and veterans in Kalamazoo County, Michigan. We need your help to accomplish our goal.
How will we use the money?
Your generous donation will be used to build and operate a commercial kitchen from which to dispatch food trucks (mobile food trucks) to provide free dinners to indigent, elderly and disabled county residents Monday through Friday. A small dining room will be available for the homeless and needy to enjoy their meals in a controlled environment.
Where will the kitchen be located?
Our new commercial kitchen shall be located in the Douglas Neighborhood. This community is located near downtown Kalamazoo, and has a high concentration of food insecure and unemployed residents.
How will my donation benefit those individual/families whom you serve?
Our mission is three-fold. First, there is no commercial kitchen from which to feed the homeless and needy in the neighborhood. Second, 25 new jobs are anticipated to prepare and feed to the need. Finally, a small fleet of food trucks (mobile soup kitchens) shall be purchased and deployed to feed our needy dinner guests throughout the county.
