Matthew Edward Eric Cruz

Matthew Edward Eric Cruz, son to Lety and Gary Cruz,  was an amazing  and kind young man who  "loved his friends and taking care of others" such as his grandparents and his younger sister, Giselle.  Often Matthew could be found sitting with his grandmother and grandfather or having meaningful conversations with his dad, with whom he was very close. Matthew was always at family at dinners and loved goofing around with his Aunt Marissa.  The kind of man would would surprise his girlfriend, Alyssa, with care packages in the mail and doing "whatever is easiest" for everyone else. He enjoyed working with computers and on programming and helped his dad with his business.  He had a gentle, quiet demeanor and was always willing to help others.

Matthew attended Nativity School and graduated from Menlo-Atherton last year (2017) and was developing his entrepreneurial skills while providing childcare to a family.

Matthew met one of his best friends at Nativity, Ricky Torres and another, Andrew Gonzalez at Menlo-Atherton. "The three were always together...the boys and the families were [very close], often taking trips and spending time together".

The communites of Nativity and Menlo-Atherton, as well as the Menlo Park firefighters and these 3 families tragically lost Matthew, Ricky and Andrew in a vehicle accident on Skyline on Halloween night.
