Maura Needs Your Help

I try really hard at everything that I’ve done in my life and for the most part, up until this point, it’s worked. Anyone who’s tried for something big before knows there is sometimes a gap between your best effort and what’s required to make it happen. At that point, you have the option to either quit or find a way, and sometimes finding a way means...asking for help.

Fast forward to now.

I’ve been offered a life-changing opportunity to work alongside one of the leading storytellers in the entertainment industry. This is the kind of thing I have been working so hard for (bio below). The opportunity will require immediate relocation. I don’t have what I need to make the transition happen and I only have 2 weeks to do it.

Situations and causes like those in Houston are much bigger than mine. There’s no comparison there, but what I do know is that if I do not ask, there’s a possibility that this will not happen.

If you can help (and I mean literally like $1) I would really appreciate it and further, I guarantee that your investment/donation is something that I will remember and make worth it.

I don’t have a novel to share nor do I have the privilege of being too prideful to make this request. If you know me or my work and know my heart, then there’s no guessing in whether or not I am both sincere and prayerful as I prepare to take this leap.

How You Can Help

Any amount of donation helps me. Literally! 50 cents, a dollar, every little bit helps. All donations will go towards immediate relocation costs including but not limited to travel, a deposit, and first month's rent in LA. Additionally, as a current tenant, I am in the process of finding a sublease for my current apartment. Until that is secured, I will be maintaining payment at my current Atlanta residence AKA the first of the month is here and I just paid my rent...and won’t be living here in less than 2 weeks.

Raised between Chicago and LA, I have always had undying love for culture, storytelling, and technology. Upon completion of my B.A. at Spelman College in 2016, I began my entrepreneurial journey. As the founder of Glitter & Hustle Creative Agency , I have sought to deliver the voice of multi-cultural brands through a variety of creative mediums. In addition to Glitter & Hustle, I founded YouNeedTRIBE , a community dedicated to reigniting the spirit of tribal community amongst women of color and am a former contributor on Bossip on WEtv. I am passionate about equal rights and diversity and inclusion. I’m committed to civic engagement and formerly served as a BET What's At Stake ambassador and correspondent, mentor for the Greater Atlanta cohort of GirlScouts of America, and a member of the entertainment committee for Atlanta-based non-profit Amplify4Good. Driven by the women who have led before me, I ultimately aspire to inspire young women to live unapologetically and reach their fullest potential.
