Medical and Bills for Dad
Donation protected
Fred Wilfong, my dad, took a fall in December 2016, at the time weighing in at 301 pounds. He needed hip replacement surgery. It has been a long hard 2017 with the pain he'd been in and his mobility degraded. Prior to the scheduled surgery he was taking very small steps using a walker. At the beginning of June he weighed in at 232, having lost 69 pounds. Yay! He received the surgery on June 12, 2018. He went into rehabilitation that Friday. The following Friday he went back to the hospital. He was being treated for dehydration, urinary tract infection, and fluctuating electrolytes. Two weeks later he was transferred back to rehabilitation. At this now he will not be returning home because he is unable to do for himself and it is unsafe for him to return home. I have applied for Medicaid for Dad and am still locating documents to aid the process. Medical costs rising along with the other bills piling up, since his out of pocket expenses exceed his social security income at this point I am asking for assistance. $3K is a starting point. The date that his insurance stops has not yet been determined but is likely that it will be this next week. Cost for his 'new home' will take all of his social security income except $40 per month. Selling his belongings isn't quick enough or monetarily enough to cover the expense of even the first couple days of 'new home' stay but will make a small dent. Your help would greatly be appreciated.
