Medical Expense Fund for Indiana (Indy)
Donation protected
It all started 3 months ago, when we took Indy in to our local vet for his annual shots/check-up. During the visit, our vet suggested bloodwork, as Indy seemed a bit pale. Of course we allowed it and the results came back that Indy was very anemic. It was suggested we go Lloyd Veterinary Medical Center which is at Iowa State University, an hour and a half away, for additional tests to be run.
After many tests, Indy was diagnosed with Autoimmune Hemolytic Anemia. No tests could explain why his body suddenly began to fight itself and why his red blood cells are not reproducing like they should.
3 months later and Indy has had 4 blood transfusions, been poked and prodded and evaluated. Drs. still do not understand why his body is fighting itself. He has been such a trooper through all of this, has never complained, and has become a favorite patient at Iowa State. They particularly love his heart butt.
It is very humbling to have to admit that we are unsure how much longer we can afford Indy's treatments and need help. The tests, the blood transfusions, the trips to and from Ames, and all the medicines we have tried have put a large burden on us financially. In the last 3 months, we have spent over $10k just to keep him alive.
Just like any dog moms would, we absolutely love Indy so much and want to do anything we can to give him more time to get through this. He is the greatest dog. He is gentle, kind, and always trying to be the mediator between his naughty sisters. His favorite place is sitting between his moms' legs or trying to cuddle with one of his sisters. At only 4 years old, its hard to imagine that there is a chance that he may not be with us for as long as we would like.
We appreciate any assistance given. All donations will go directly toward his medical bills at Iowa State University. Big thanks to the corgi community, for allowing us to see how wonderful these dogs can be and being a great support during this time.
Sincerely,
Indy's moms, sister Emma and sister Sadie.
