Medical fund: D.A.N.C.E. with AMARA
Donation protected
As some of you may know, Amara Riccio overcame a tradegy on June 1, 2008. She was struck by a car crossing the street going to her dance recital. As a result, she suffered a severe traumatic brain injury and many broken bones. After years of intense rehabilitation and therapy, she returned home to persue her dreams. Amara recently just graduated from Kean University in May 2017 and received her bachelors degree in Recreation Therapy. As of September 2017, she was working two part-time jobs: A dance instructor and a Recreational therapist for developmentally delayed children. Additionally, she is attending graduate school online at Leslie University for mental health counseling and expressive rts therapy.
Unfortunately, since late September Amara's health has deteriorated. For the past 2 months she has been to several doctors including: ENT, Gastro, Endo, and a neurologist. Now she has been diagnosed with Spasmodic Dysphonia in which is a voice disorder that causes severe spasams in her vocal chords. Also, she has swallowing difficulties and increased stiffness in her neck, back, and shoulders. Amara has been in the hospital for the past 10 days surviving on IV fluids. She is scheduled to have a feeding tube placement in order to attend rehab on Friday.
Sadly, her insurance only covers 70% percent of her lengthy rehabilitation stay. She also will need private doctors and outpatient physical therapy in which co pays are from $50 to $70 per visit. Amara has been helping families with medical/financial hardships through her non profit orginization RPMU for the past 8 years. Now, our Amazing Amara needs your help! She is in desperate need of aggressive rehabilitation therapy. This will hopefully help her regain her overall skills including: eating, speaking. and walking. We greatly appreciate any amount you can afford towards Amara's medical fund. Thank you & God Bless
