Medical Funds for Said Yanez is a call of help to the kind hearted that can be touched dearly by Said’s situation. He’s 18, and has been dealing with his problem for 5 years. He was first diagnosed with a tumor on his left leg at the age of 13. Being that times were different, he was able to get financial help through a charity foundation that appealed to his situation. He went through a biopsy that determined whether the tumor was malignant or benign, luckily it was benign. He was put under several chemotherapy treatments, upon speculation, the doctors thought that it was time to put him on radiation therapy. He did several radiation treatments as well. When the doctor saw an opportunity, they did surgery to remove the tumor. Said was very happy for 1 year until he discovered yet another tumor, this was on his left calf. He was able to find this tumor early on so it was at a small growth. He did a small number amount of radiation treatments, then was assigned to have it surgically removed. After finishing his treatment, the doctor wanted to do a scan to ensure that everything would be good, but they found again another tumor on his thigh again. They did surgery on his thigh again and were able to remove it perfectly. Due to the amount of tumors that were being found constantly, his doctor decided that he would do a routine check on his left leg every six months. It has been 2 years when they saw a small growth  in one of his routine scans. This tumor unlike the others is wrapped around his main nerve that is affecting his ability to walk and perform any physical activity. Which is a very critical spot to do surgery on. The doctors suggested a new type of radiation that focuses on the main part of the tumor.

Unfortunately, Said’s insurance company is no longer able to pay for his treatments, and have kept him on hold for many months as to whether they will continue to help him any longer. His radiation cost between $32,000 to $35,000 per treatment. His family and all the people that care much about him don’t have the financial needs to pay for his treatments. The doctors are aware of this and he has been informed that his only options are to wait for his insurance company’s decision or have his leg amputated.
