Megan's Epilepsy Expenses
Donation protected
I've always been a very healthy person. I had never even stayed the night in a hospital until I had my children. For the last 25 years, I've never had to worry about anything health-wise except the occasional cold.
On June 9, 2018, I had my first seizure. It was a tonic-clonic seizure in my sleep. I woke up to my husband yelling at me to wake up and telling me I had a seizure. He loaded our children up and took me to the ER. I don't remember anything about that day.
I then had two follow-up doctor appointments, as well as an MRI and an EEG. I was lucky in the sense that my MRI and EEG both came back with nothing remarkable to report.
I was seizure-free for most of the summer, until August 2 when I had another tonic-clonic in my sleep, and then another exactly a week later on August 9.
I had my first neurology appointment on August 15, where they diagnosed me with nocturnal epilepsy and prescribed me medication that should hopefully keep everything in check.
While I am glad that the worst is seemingly over, and that I have some answers, I am now $7,500 in medical debt on top of my normal day-to-day expenses that come with raising a family.
I've held off for a while on starting this campaign because I didn't think people would donate and didn't think I'd need it, but I am going to be paying this off for at least the next 10 years if I don't get some sort of help.
Anything is appreciated. Thank you so much.
