April 7th, 2017, our family received devastating news. Specialists had diagnosed Melanie with severe Crohn's Disease. (What is Crohn's Disease?)
Unfortunately, Melanie is not insured and does not have the insurance qualifications to be eligible receive the utmost quality care she deserves. Treatments and procedures for Crohn's Disease are very costly, paying out of pocket. Our family is praying that she is able to receive any type of financial help or benefits. I am here making a plea to help support Melanie's cause and get her all the medication and treatment she may need to live a joyful, radiant, and fulfilling life.

Melanie Bergunker has always been a joyful child and an awe-inspiring person. At the age of 9, Melanie began creating her own dances to her favorite songs. Her favorite thing to do on weekends is wake up early in the morning, and play loud music and dance while everyone else was asleep. She has always been a exceptionally healthy child, but has maintained a low appetite throughout her adolescence. When our family got the news, we were shattered. We would have never expected something of this magnitude to be affecting Melanie's life for the past several years.
Now seventeen, entering junior year of highschool, Melanie is setting goals and aspirations she wishes to accomplish as she prepares for college. Melanie is cherished deeply by her community, as well as her teachers and friends. As her brother and on behalf of the rest of the family, we desire for her to have all the treatment she needs to live a happy, succesful life. Crohn's Disease is a life long, non-curable condition, but the good news is that it is treatable. Sadly, these treatments for Crohn's, a debilitating type of chronic bowel inflammation, can cost upwards of $35,000 for each procedure, with additional costs for medication. This account is to help pay Melanie's expensive treatment throughout the next few years.
We thank you in advance for your contribution and solidarity with Melanie, and the Bergunker family.
