Memorial Expenses for James Kennedy
Donation protected
James left this world way too soon. The tragedy of his death is sending waves of unbearable grief and resounding sorrow throughout his community.
From Jacquie:
James had a beautiful, bright spirit and despite facing many challenges in his short life, he maintained a dogged optimism for his future. He once told me that he thought his life would not be long, but I strongly believe that he didn’t intend to leave us so soon. He was trying hard to find the best balance of treatment and life choices to support him in moving toward that future. He was getting there. He was in a pretty good mindset that last week. We had a wonderful night decorating the Christmas tree on Monday, and the last text I had from him was on Tuesday morning when he replied “LMAO” in response to a photo Clara sent us both of the fallen tree in our living room. We had coffee that morning, and he admitted that he hadn’t slept much the night before. I told him to rest and treat himself well, and then I went to work. He did not treat himself well. He made a very bad choice and he thought he could handle it. He thought he could handle anything. Although we can only suspect the details, we know that his death was caused by an overdose.
When people die at appropriate ages, there is life insurance to cover costs like these. With a young tragic death, we as a community want to step in to help out.
We are hoping to raise money to cover the cost of James' mortuary and memorial expenses. The remainder will be used to endow a memorial fund in James' name.
If any positive might come from this awfulness, let’s commit to action versus inaction, and encourage our children to speak out when they see a friend in trouble. Here’s a good resource: HereToHelp
