Memorial for Roddy McDowall at Hollywood Forever Cemetery
Donation protected
Roddy McDowall remains one of Hollywood’s most beloved stars. Beginning his career at the age of 5 and working until his death at age 70 in 1998, you may remember him best as Cornelius and Caesar in the original Planet of the Apes series, or as Joe who waited for his Lassie to come home. Roddy graced the silver screen with his unique sensitivity and gifted Hollywood with his knack for friendship and love for his craft.
After his passing in 1998, Roddy’s remains were scattered in the Pacific Ocean, per his wishes. Nearly 27 years after his death, we wish to honor Roddy with a memorial glass-front niche located in Hollywood Forever Cemetery, located in the heart of Hollywood and is the final resting place of many of his colleagues including Burt Reynolds, Mickey Rooney, Tyrone Power, Stella Stevens and many more.
Our goal is to locate Roddy’s memorial inside the Judy Garland Pavilion, the final resting place of his beloved friend and frequent photography subject, Judy Garland.
Our goal is to raise enough money to install this memorial before his centennial birthday in 2028. Hollywood Forever has informed us that their rates increase annually, which is why our financial target is high. Your contributions will cover the cost of the window niche, the one-time installation fee and a floral vase.
In the event we don’t reach our goal, all donations will be refunded. Similarly, if we receive more than we need, any excess will be repaid.
Below is the desired location of the niche.
