Memorial for Sister Susie
Donation protected
My sister, Susan Kay (Truchinski) Harvey's grave at the Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin cemetery remains unmarked until enough money can be raised to order and pay for the cost of a gravestone and installation at the site. Would you please help with a contribution at GoFundMe.com?
We buried my 71 year old sister, July 27, 2017, thanks to Des Moines, Iowa cremation costs and grave site expenses paid for by her oldest son and initial, local, funeral expenses arranged by myself. However, as a retired person on a small income, I need some help to pay for the balance of the funeral costs, and to mark her grave at Forest Hill Cemetery, Wisconsin Rapids, WI with a small burial monument devoted to the special person she was.
My sister, Susan Kay Harvey, a former resident of Wisconsin Rapids, WI, died in a suburb of Des Moines, Iowa, June 17, 2017, after a lengthy illness. She was born Susan Kay Truchinski in the Marshfield, Wisconsin hospital, February 28, 1946, the daughter of Roland Walter Truchinski, and Doris Ellen Millard of Nekoosa, Wisconsin. We held a Wisconsin Rapids funeral service for Susie July 27, 2017, and laid her to rest the following day at Forest Hill Cemetary, Wisconsin Rapids, WI.
Susie spent her early educational years in a one room, country school called Cameron's Pride, south of Marshfield, in the Town of Cameron. When Susan was 10, her parents moved her and her five siblings to Stanley, Wisconsin, where she became responsible for the care of her younger brothers and sister during the long hours her mother and oldest brother, Gary, spent working in the A&W Root Beer Stand and 24 hour restaurant that her parents operated on old highway 29.
Susan continued being a pseudo parent while her mother found it necessary to continue work when her mom suddenly became a single parent a few years later. Susan's mother moved Susan and siblings to Spencer, Wisconsin, where Susan attended high school in the daytime and cared for her younger brothers and sister at night and weekends, during hours they were not in school.
Family obligations did not make it possible for Susan to receive a high school diploma, but she made up for it later by earning a Certificate of High School Equivalency and went on to gain an education at Mid-State Technical College.
As a young adult, Susan moved to Des Moines, Iowa, where she worked and later married the father of her sons, Denny and Davy and daughter Amber. Many years of trials, tribulations, as well as happy days, followed, before her last breath was finally taken June 17, 2017 at a hospice facility in a Des Moines suburb.
Susan Kay (Truchinski) Harvey is survived by her children, Denny, Davy and Amber (Harvey) Williams; five grandchildren and one great-grandchild. She is also survived by her mother, Doris Ellen (Millard) Truchinski; her brothers, retired radio news person and personality, Gary W. Morgan (born Roland Wayne Truchinski), Rodney Arnold Truchinski, Todd Allen Truchinski, and sister, Sheri Ellen (Truchinski) Towne.
Susan was preceded in death by her father, Roland Walter Truchinski; brother, Kevin Dean Truchinski; and former husband, Denon “Chuck” Harvey.
Susie's unmarked remains now sit in the cemetery grounds within eyeshot of the younger brother who preceded her in death. She is watching over him as she did during his formative, childhood years so long ago. He has a military plaque marking his final resting place, while Susie awaits the recognition she deserves.
Please indicate how you can help pay for these final costs of the death of the little sister who tagged along after me so many years ago. Please help us place a proper stone at Susie's final resting place.
We appreciate any amount, large or small, or in-between.
Thank you.
