Memorial Service for Durelle Davis
Donation protected
Durelle Davis. My baby brother. My only brother. If you've ever had a younger sibling, you know what headaches they can sometimes be. Durelle was no different. He. Got. On. My. NERVES. But, now that he's gone, I would give anything to get those days back. I'm certain his children feel the same way as we are now dealing with the heartbreaking task of putting him to rest.
Durelle disappeared in August of 2018. For two months, we prayed and searched, looking for answers. In October, we received a call from detectives informing us they found remains in the woods of downstate Illinois, and they matched the last known location and physical description of my brother. For three months after, while living in "grief limbo", myself, his children, family and friends kept praying for a miracle. However, we received confirmation in January that medical records were a match, and my little brother was gone.
I now need to put him to rest. I am raising funds to assist with this effort. Because we are not able to claim his remains until forensics are complete, we will hold a memorial service for family and friends on February 8th. After his remains are claimed, we will hold a cremation ceremony for family and have his ashes placed in charm necklaces, which will be distributed to his four children. All remaining funds from these donations, if any, will be equally distributed to his children.
I humbly ask your assistance in making this happen. This is the hardest thing I've ever had to do, and seeking help in this way makes it that much more difficult. However, it is a necessity to ensure he is memorialized properly.
The family greatly appreciates any contributions you are able to make.
